LimboI should be doing something but was not sure what to do. My mache was enroute from Toronto, the weather outside was not appropiate for yard work and yes I admit it I felt a tad defeated from the Toronto Show. Normally the days were never long enough or had the hours required to get everything done and here I was with too much time on my hands. There is always something to be done on the farm if one chooses to find it but.....
Not that I sat around all day and watched TV and eat mega amount of bonbons. Last week was prep for the market and I was donating butter tarts and cookies to the church's annual fish fry on Saturday. It is actually not my church but the fish fry is attended yearly and last year I thought about the donation as they served Tim Horton's donuts for dessert. It is for a good cause and when I in the line up (not at the fish fry lol) "the big guy" had blessed me with many talents so I figure giving back is an appropiate thing to do. Well the fish fry was delicious as always and dessert was a success (8 dozen tarts and 10 dozen assorted cookies) and I was the recipient of many hugs from the ladies of the church. Sunday we enjoyed the pleasure of Mizz Patty's cooking and company for a wonderful turkey dinner on Easter Sunday. Mizz Patty sure knows how to cook yup a yummy meal. I supplied the dessert; carrot cake with Grand Marnier which was very tasty and of course a cream cheese icing.
Two flat tires since I have arrived back from Toronto and 5 since I have moved up here or purchased my car which by the way is less than 2 years. I am now getting paranoid about driving as I have a feeling someone has put a "tire curse" on me. Well 1 of the tires was covered under warranty and cost nothing, YEAH!! and the other was not too bad in price so once again I am fully prepared for another flat tire. Tuesday I was using the lawn tractor to haul water to the barns and guess what?? Yep, you got it lol another flat tire.
Received a call my mache would arrive Tuesday afternoon so I headed down to the rabbit barns that morning and gave that a good cleaning. Ten feedbags of poop later (about 50 lbs each) I was satisfied of a job well done and with a sore back and body saw the truck arrive as I was enroute to the house. All arrived safely and is now unpacked and somewhat organized upstairs. Luckily the pieces that sold were mostly larger ones and Fireweed is now restocked and I plan to take a few smaller pieces to the market. I now accept Visa or Mastercard which should help sometime down the road.
Yesterday was a trip to town to get supplies for the market and the house and today will be baking and cooking. Hopefully will get most of it done today as I want a free day or semi-free day on Friday. Well time for chores and the start of another day. Have a good one now ya hear. Back homeBeautiful, amazing, unique, stunning, cool, excellent were some of the comments that filled each day at the One of a Kind Spring Show in Toronto. The paper mache was very well received but unfortunately the sales did not match the enthusiasm and sales fell short of breaking even. If every 3rd person who went on about how gorgeous it was and how perfect it would look in that certain spot of the house, who took my card and booth number and said they would be back actually did it would of been a different story. From rows A to Q I was row E so they could of found something more suitable ( there were lots of beautiful things there) or they were just too tired to walk back after getting through it all. It's hard to say. Most of the artisans around me who were vetrans at the show stated this was quieter and none of them realized their expectations by the end of it. No regrets here. For 5 days I was a part of one of the largest artisan shows in Canada and there with the best of the best. I did do well. Have applied for the 1st five days of the Christmas show. Neighbours at the show all felt I would do well at that. They were incredible by the way. Very supportive, helpful etc.
Winter is back or came back with a fury on Tuesday night. It looks like the winds have calmed down a bit. It was a tad chilly out there these last few days. Off to do chores. Have a great day now, ya hear. CountdownWell things are moving along rather well. Over 100 pieces are on there way to Toronto having been picked up last Monday. They will be waiting at my booth hopefully in excellent shape when I arrive to set up on the 26th. Hmm $75 worth of bubble wrap should insure a safe passage? It's been a very busy month and for some reason in my head the magic number to achieve was 100 so I accomplished that and now have 10 more on the go upstairs which I will take with me on the plane. The unknown is a tad nerve racking but all in all I am actually getting excited about it all and hope at least I will be able to cover my expenses. THIS IS NOT A CHEAP SHOW TO DO but I thought it would look great on my resume lol. Flying out this Sunday and set up is Monday and Tuesday. Wedneday "it's show time". My Mom is taking the train in from Belleville on Thursday and my sister will be joining her from Lindsay so I will at least get a bit of visiting in. Tomorrow my wireless POS system arrives and it will be activated on Friday. Visa, Mastercard and debit will be accepted for 1 week. Off to bed, I am plum tuckered out. E-47Today I received my final package for the show which included complimentary tickets, badges, booth number (E-47) and set up time. I must admit I am beginning to get excited about it all. Lucky for me my set up is on the Monday after 2pm so I will have ample time to fuss around with the display. Also had applied for and was assigned a storage locker on site which will be a huge help by keeping all the overstock there. Production is going extremely well with more than 70 pieces completed or in various stages of completion. I have until March 19th to get all packed and ready for pick up so that leaves me a good 2 weeks. In the back of my mind I am aiming for 100 pieces. Not much else is new here besides the production of mache. The market was again on the slow side and had a lot to do on the farm so we left at 6am for the market and after that were none stop until 9pm so it was a very long day. I was exhausted. Not as young as I use to be lol. Well dinner is done and mache land beckons until it is time for chores. Do believe I will call it a day after chores and relax in front of the tely for a while. Beginning to feel a tad tired already. In like a lionI was actually beginning to believe that this was going to be the year Thunder Bay escaped winter or at least the traditional winter we are accustomed to. It seemed like everyone around us was suffering the wrath of Mother Nature and for some reason not known to any of us we had been spared. WRONG!!! March has definitely came in like a lion. The 2 to 4 cm of snow that was in the forcast was accumulated in about a half hour last night. It has been non stop since then and with the strong north winds today drifts were knee to waist high. Winter is here. I guess the snowblower getting repaired should become a priority lol.
Up in mache land production is moving along very well. I have about 58 pieces completed and 12 in various stages of completion so I am not doing too bad. I enlisted the aid of a fellow artist and friend in Toronto and we have figured out the appropiate pricing for the show. Prices will be reasonable and affordable to most so that should help the selling. Picking up packing boxes and bubble wrap next week and will begin that process. Everything needs to be ready to ship by the 19th. Flight is booked and will open the business account on Monday. So many little things to get done. Market is tomorrow, no expectations there and off to bed as 6am comes too early. Have a great weekend.
One of a KindWell it was a struggle to get them on here but did manage to get the pictures of the completed vases up or most of them. Difficulties from MSN saying things about quota etc but just did them in smaller batches. Anyway had my enrty already to go this morning and it disappeared???? So will do it again later on as I have spent too much time on here today with the pictures. Back to mache land and my little Fuji did not do too bad. MexicoTequilla and Hershey Girl were frolicking on the beach. The sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky. One could not ask for a more perfect day in Mexico. This had all happened so fast. It was just yesterday there was a fire at the house in Toronto....... Curses! I hate that when you awake from a wonderful dream you are having. Hmmm pinch, pinch yes it was a dream. Okay I now have recognized my surroundings and I have assured myself I have not passed on lol. With thoughts of picking up where I left off I drifted off to sleep but no luck. By the time morning arrived the above 2 lines were all I could recall although when I had awakened I did identify the dream as wonderful. Hmm most likely because of the dogs. I think of them daily but I do believe this is the 1st time I have dreamt about them. It was nice.
On the agenda for today is paper mache lol. Up to 62 pieces here and in the process of getting the shipping organized. Will be nice to get that out of the way. Being the 1st time to this show I have absolutely NO IDEA of how many to do but as with cooking dinner it is better to have leftovers than not enough. See Mom I can retain things hehe. Have enclosed a few pictures of the lambs taken about a week ago. Looks like 2 maybe 3 more deliveries to go. Holding at 26 right now. Have a great weekend and gee maybe I'll get some photos taken and posted of the mache lol. Wonders never cease. TimeWith the milder temperatures we have had some accumulation of snow. Still not a substantial amount (4inches) but it actually looks more like a Thunder Bay winter now. Being out in the open here there is always a wind and drifting snow so the snowblower was brought out for the second time this season. Did not get very far at all as the V belt snapped as soon as I began to proceed. A minor repair and the lane is passable so no worries there.
In the early hours of Tuesday we lost a very dear friend rather unexpectedly. A remarkable man and a significant loss to all whos lives he touched. So the week has been progressing in a semi state of numbness and need to get back into production motivated or not. I am mourning the loss of a friend and I cannot imagine the magnitude of the loss the family feels. Very sad indeed and again another reminder to enjoy everyday to it's fullest. You just never know when your time is up.
Well chores have been done, coffee is drunk, blog is written and 12 pieces in various states of completion await me upstairs. Cloudy and dreary so far this week so have not attempted any pictures. Hope all is well with you and yours. SeinfeldHowdy Barb,
Saw you had popped in on a few occassions over the weekend and kept thinking that I should create an entry. Well if Seinfeld can do a show about nothing then I can do a blog about nothing lol. The Farmers Market was again slow. I had cut back on all baking and cooking but am still coming home with more food than I care to. I figured out with the time spent doing preparation and the time spent at the Market I was making about $2.50 an hour. Not a complaint but a statement and the good part about that is it only makes me more determined to succeed with the mache. Don't get me wrong. It is enjoyable to be there. I like the interaction with the customers and other vendors. It is indeed a social event. So maybe I need to change my way of thinking and look at it as that and as long as my costs are covered be content with that.
Mache is going along very well. I am actually running out of space upstairs so I need to get some pieces varathaned and photograped and ready to pack. The weather has promised to warm up to around zero so it will be more appropiate temperatures. Since it is not ideal conditions the piece is taken outside, quickly sprayed and returned to the house to dry. At least this way it eliminates the fumes.
Mother Nature treated us to more comfortable temperatures this weekend and it was just plain nice not to have to put on 3 to 4 layers of clothing before venturing out. The week ahead looks promising but there is snow in the forcast so we will see. Again last night we got another 1/4 inch of snow. Stop the insanity lol lol.
Well coffee has been consumed and the critters are waiting for my arrival for a hay feeding so I best get at it. The 1st day we have some sun or brightness I'll begin taking pictures of the One of a Kind pieces. Hope all is well with you and yours and "not working" is slowly sinking in and becoming an enjoyable reality.
Hugs,
Michael Ground Hog DayEnjoying my morning coffee and sitting at the computer thinking this is my time to create a blog but about what? Life has become so very routine lately. I mentioned to a friend Barb (hi Barb) that it reminds me of the movie Ground Hog Day where the same day repeats itself over and over and over and over. Not that I am complaining it is more of a statement. With all of my creative juices being consumed by paper mache there is very little left for writing. Hmm not that there ever was lol. That is going along well. I once again find myself on that roller coaster ride of emotions where at the peak I will be fine and do well and at the bottom I am not worthy. I went through this with the last show so it is not quite as bad although the One of a Kind is HUGE so..... oh don't get me started lol. I did a count last night and have 42 completed and 10 in various stages so not doing too bad. Will take a few shots of some of the different pieces I am creating to get your feedback. Well off to town to gather supplies. Oh a break in the routine lol lol. Have a wonderfull Valentines Day and 1 last question for Barb. How many spaces do you actually visit on a regular basis? You have quite the following. Do you respond to all? Thats a part time job I imagine. Just curious. CocoaA full house of vendors as the market resumed it's season for 2007. As expected it was on the slow side and pretty much everyone was bringing stuff home. I gauge the day by how much cheese Margaret has left and how many loaves of bread Derrick has remaining. These two vendors are the most popular and both had considerable inventory left so it was SLOW! I had cut back so was not too bad and also the dog show added some cash so all in all I cannot complain. (would like to lol) The dog show was a success as far as the food went. Friday was assorted sandwiches with a relish tray and an apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. Saturday I prepared a ham/broccoli quiche and bacon/mushroom quiche served with a tossed salad and a black forest cake for dessert. Sunday was BBQ beef on a bun served with coleslaw and for dessert butter tarts and banana bread. As you can see nothing fancy, just good food.
Sunday morning two sets of healthy dry twins greeted us when chores were started. Just those few degrees warmer makes such a huge difference as far as the lambing goes. Nutmeg had given birth to two little boys. One is a dark chocolate and I have named him Cocoa. He is so sweet, well they all are. I am such a sucker for these little guys, Everytime I am in the barns I have to pick a few of the lambs up to hold and pet, hug and kiss lol oh and of course talk to. Well no human contact during the days and they are all good listeners lol.
Finally got some mache done on Sunday and this week will be less hectic so I want (and need) to get a lot accomplished. So on that note off I go for chores and then macheland. Have a good one.
The Layered lookAlthough the temperatures are a creaping up into the -20's that nasty north wind keeps them into the -30's. Well all in all it is an improvement over -40 but honestly can we feel a difference between -30 and -40 or is it just plain COLD!! Friends have had their well gone dry and their septic bed froze so drawing water from the house for the barns is not really that much of a hardship. I believe that is why we have not been serviced yet as there are others with a higher priority which would make sense. Not the way I would run a business ( a phone call would be nice) but we are basically at his mercy so shall be patient.
No new births since the last round earlier in the week. Remembering my motto from my boy scout days "be prepared" I now stuff a towel in between my 3 to 4 layers of clothing and my jacket when heading down to the barns A friend from Winnipeg was in town the other day and dropped in for a visit. Pictures were taken of the 2 of us and upon her return she sent me a few of them. I LOOK HUGE!!!!!!. Note to me; send Tracey a mail stating I was wearing 4 layers of clothing that day lol. No reason to add extra pounds that aren't there.
Yesterday the day passed by cooking and baking for the Farmers Market and prepping for the Argus dog show this weekend. Already I am tired of it and have just started back. I am in trouble lol. Part of the problem is I would rather be doing paper mache but I do not want to count my chickens before the eggs are hatched and this is a source of income. The market is starting very early this year and the implication is start now or you might not get in later. In my dream world I would only have to do paper mache and would travel 3 to 4 times a year to fantastic shows.
Duties call so off I go to get layered and tend to the critters. Hope you all have a wonderfull weekend. Hmm I guess that would be Barb, Brook and Miss Alison hehe. Little LouLittle Lou was holding his own as far as feeding goes but he was not quite right. Such a quiet little thing he would lay in his pen and just look around watching the world go by. Evenings when I sat down to watch some television I would bring him out and put him on my lap. However Monday night he would not take his formula and attempts through out the night failed and he passed on Tuesday morning. I know it was meant to be as he would not be able to survive on his own. A set of twins that day in the afternnon and they were like little popsicles. It was so cold here the babies were icing up. A visit to the warm up shack and they were fine. Just got the 2 back down to mom and there was another tiny little thing walking around. At first I thought Heather had triplets but noticed a young ewe, a newborn a year ago herself had delivered this one. Babies delivering babies so to speak. So very tiny but seemed hearty as she walked around the pen looking to nurse. There was a bit of confusion for a while until Mom and daughter connected. It was actually rather amusing watching her attempt to nurse from the rams. Guess it looked similar lol. All in all everyone is fine and no new arrivals yet today.
A busy weekend ahead with the Farmers Market resuming, catering the Argus dog show Friday to Sunday along with chores and keeping up the mache production. Toasty lambsThe little boy who was brought up to the house is still with us. He is feeding well but something is just not right. Does not seem to have the strength or desire to get up and about as other newborns do. Thoughts of a name for him have yet to enter my mind. He is rather cute, very quiet and gentle. Today another set of twins was delivered and mom did a great job of drying them off but due to the frigid temperatures out there today the ears and tails were still wet. To avoid the possibility of freezing they were wrapped and towels and brought up to the house to basically warm up. They spent a half hour in the bathroom and were returned to their mom all toasty warm and dry. These are the healthiest yet of the newborn wool lambs. They were all over the place and very verbal on their visit to the house. No doubts that these little ones will be fine. Rosemary's babyYesterday morning when entering the barn for chores I noticed that Rosemary's water had broke. This was a total surprise as we did not even realize she was pregnant. She had delivered twins about 6 months ago so we figured that was it for her for the year. Looking closer I realized it was afterbirth trailing from her behind. I looked everywhere in the pen but no baby or babies. Her stomach was caved in a bit and every indication was she had given birth. The last check in the barns was 12:30am the night before and then again at 7:30am that morning. So somewhere between those times Rosemary had delivered and the baby or babies dissappeared. We are at a loss to explan what could of happened. Access to the barn is very secure and no large animal would be able to enter. I guess it will one of those events that will never be explained.
Another set of twins born last night and another death. Of the 10 new ewes acquired 5 have delivered twins but only 2 sets have managed to survive. Each of the others have lost 1 offspring. The fatality last night was a chocolate brown lamb that did not break out of the bag. I had been checking every 2 hours and I was not lucky enough to discover him sooner. The other seemed to be well but was brought up to the house this morning as he was so very weak. He is hopefully recovering in the bathroom as I type this. Now getting some nourshiment and a tad more responsive. With temperatures dipping down to -34 this weekend and more ewes due a wathfull eye and constant barn checks will be required. Our shhep seem to be fine. Their offspring are hearty and healthy for the most part. 100% wool babies are a new experience for us and turning out to be a frustrating one. All we can do is our best and hope all goes well.
Update:
Well the mystery is solved. During the afternoon chores I found Rosemary laying beside her baby. Unfortunately it was still enclosed in the sac and was dead. Maybe it suffocated or was stillborn. Although she is not showing signs of more to come will check every half hour just in case. Not feeling very lucky today with my timing. SheenaThe cycle of life and death continued on the farm yesterday with the birth of 2 sets of twin lambs and the passing away of our beloved matriarch Sheena. A quiet and gentle horse since I have known her Sheena was always the underdog with the other horses due to her illness and won my heart immediately for that reason along with others. Sheena had foundered (bad feet) a few years back and despite attempts to correct the problem her condition deterioated gradually over the years. It became increasingly difficult for her to walk and get around. Sheena had good days and bad days but most were a struggle for her. At the beginning of the new year it was decided to give her one last attempt to break the cycle of stress and see if she could get on the road to recovery. Ten days of pain killers plus two weeks of anti inflamatory seemed to be helping but once the medication stopped it has heart breaking to see her with no improvement. Tuesday night in her stall it was painfull to watch her attempting to turn around to access her hay bag. We could tell she was in agony. Luckily we had reserved some pain killers and she was comfortable for the night.
It all happened so quickly I did not have time to think about it. A neighbour offered the services of his tractor and dump truck and the vet was called and over here a 4pm. Sheena was to be given an injection and would collaspe on the ground and it would be over. We had let her out of the stall and she was in the pasture close to the barn. We said our good byes and she was injected and as the vet had said feel quickly to the ground. That did it for me. I lost it. The tears began to flow and I had to go to the barn until I could get control of myself. It was heart wrenching to see such a majestic creature go in that manner.
Sheena is at peace now and has crossed over the rainbow bridge to that big pasture in the sky. It is so very sad to see her go. She will be missed immensley but It was heartbreaking to see her struggle so. I found out yesterday the Sheena had quite the past. She was a wild one and scheduled for fox food when she was rescued by a neighbouring farm and ended up at Little Doo's 7 years ago. I guess by the time I had met her that age, motherhood or the founder had mellowed her to the gentle giant I knew. Sheena is survived by her brat daughter Libby and after the information yesterday I can say "the apple did not fall far from the tree with that one".
The decision to let Sheena go was a tough one. You always hope for the best and search frantically for any signs of improvement or encouragement. Ultimately we have to listen to our hearts and we know what needs to be done. As a dear friend Miss Alison put it " it's part of the contract we make with the animals we love... to be their care-givers and their voices".
The little lambs born from the new wool sheep that were purchased are so very fragile. I was amazed at how thin their coats are compared to the offspring of our existing ewes. It's similar to a summer jacket and a winter coat. We lost another one last night. I discovered it during chores and could tell it was struggling to get warm. Immediately it was brought up to the house but it passed away. The sibling seems to be doing okay. This year is definitely a year of learning. Mache MiquiA quiet weekend on the farm. A set of twin boys born on the weekend who are now doing fine. It was touch and go for the one little fellow but some TLC at the house got him warmed up with a full belly and calling for momma. Unfortunately little Sophia was found dead in the pen on Saturday night. The smallest of Calla's triplets she was having difficulty get her share of the milk battling her two brothers for it. She seemed healthy enough just smaller than her siblings. Ironically we had decided that day to supplement her with Wet Nurse and I had a bottle in hand when I discovered her. So far this year we have lost 5 little lambs. For us that is unusally high. Hopefully the remaining deliveries will go okay.
Today I took the next step with my potential part time career and registered Mache Miqui as a business in Ontario. For doing a show the size of the one in Toronto I would say it is essential to have a business. A business account is next and hours of reading to do as the 1st package of information arrived today from the One of A Kind Show. A tad overwhelming all the rules, regulations, forms to be filled in etc etc. Unlike the show in Thunder Bay everything down there costs more money. As an example to have a duplex electrical outlet ( two plugs) at your booth is $122.00 (advanced sale price). The next few days I will tackle the reading and try to organize all the forms and deadlines to have them in. This will definitely be a learning experience for me.
The mache is moving along nicely. I have an order to complete this week for a large vase for a charity auction on the 10th of February. Every little bit helps and it will be great exposure for my work. Enclosed are a few pics of completed and works in progress.
A week ago we hatched out 11 silky chickens from the incubator. That is the larget number so far this year and they are all thriving. Previously the coloured ones did not make it but these ones are okay. They do not stay still for long so it was difficult to snap a clear picture but you will get an idea of how adorable they are. Oh and Spot the pet starling felt left out and wanted a shot of him included. Funny little bird he now mimics me sneezing. Time to curl up and read for a bit and attempt to retain the massive information that awaits me. Roughing itOut here in the middle of no where the house is heated with a wood burner that is located in the garage. This heats the water which is pumped into and circulates through baseboards in the house. When running efficiently the house is kept toasty warm. Unfortunately there always seems to be at least one or two times that things just aren't the way they should be. We lost the heat on Monday or sometime Sunday evening in the wee hours. Fortunately a large kerosene space heater had been purchased the previous winter when the power decided to go out for 12 hours, -30C of course. The house is pretty much open concept so it is easy to heat the whole area.
Long story short the bolier has had seen better days and is in the process of being replaced with a high efficiency propane heating system. If all goes as planned the unit should be up and running sometime today. We have been comfortable, a tad chilly at times but it could always be worse ie pipes freezing etc. The great part about this new system is NO MORE WOOD!!! Whoohoo lol. Ten cords are purchased each year and countless hours are spent cutting and stacking it in the wood shed. It is a huge job and now will just have the memories of it. The wood shed was built a year ago and now I am thinking it migh become the new home for the cows. We should have 3 cows and 2 calves over the next winter and the shed is ample, 12 feet wide by 24 feet long. A few renos to it and of course the rest of the wood removed it should be an appropiate space. The cow shelter built last summer could be reworked into a sheep shelter as the numbers are increased this year. Hmm lots of spring projects getting lined up all ready.
Well off to the barns with my water in tow. The well issue down there has yet to be corrected although the guy finally returned our calls. Still not sure when it will get done. These days one never knows what will await them down there. Lots of ewes ready to deliver. Oh anyone need any cut wood? SchoolToday I went to talk about my paper mache to an adult English learning class. There were about 25 students and each introduced themselves along with where they were originally from. By the time we got the introductions completed I do believe all parts of the world had been covered. I hadn't realized there was such a cross section of people in Thunder Bay. It was great to see such diversity in the group. I had brought with me a variety of pieces and talked about each one, how they were formed and the numerous steps involved from start to completion. Lots of questions and interest and they all clapped when I was finished so I guess it went well.
A quiet weekend on the farm. Two more sets of healthy twins were born on Saturday and this morning. Mom and the youngins are thriving in the afterbirth condos and having their bonding time separate from the others. Mother Nature is keeping the temperatures on the milder side and we are thankfull for that. The water has still not been reconnected in the barn despite many calls to have it repaired. Will be glad to get that issue resolved as it is getting a tad tiresome lugging it down from the house.
Sunday we went to the Redwood church and listened to a video interview between Bono and a high ranking minister of a church in Chicago. The topic was poverty and justice and Bono was calling upon all churches to take a more active roll in these along with the current Aids crisis. Statistics were posted and the numbers and projections were shocking. It certainly gave one food for thought.
A diiner party for 8 on Saturday night was the highlight of the weekend with quality time spent with some close friends. I have always considered myself a homebody and certainly enjoy entertaining from the house and also the comforts of home. This week I begin to focus on building up my inventory of paper mache. I am not quite sure of the amount needed for the show but I want to have as many completed as possible. Still undecided on how I plan to get myself and my wares there but there is lots of time for that. Eleven multi coloured silky chicks were hatched on the weekend and thety along with spot the pet starling are sharing my work space. A small distraction but a pleasant one. One of a KindThe majority of the day or at least every half hour on each hour was spent checking the computer for a long awaited response. I had applied to the One of a Kind Spring Show in Toronto back before Christmas and was promised an answer by the end of last week then by Wednesday of this week but that rolled by and still nothing. There was a note apologizing for the delay as they were very busy which is understandable. The Spring Show is the smaller show with 450 vendors while the Christmas Show is over 800 vendors. Quite incredible when you think about it. It was getting close to 5pm so basically I have given up on hearing anything that day. Oh incoming mail. Itwas my contact from the show Gordon. I had waited so long for this you'd think I'd open it right away but now was the "do or die" moment. Was hoping to be accepted, not counting on it 100% and would be dissapointed if not but life would continue on. I could always go to plan B whatever that was lol.
I have been accepted into the Spring Show and am thrilled at having this opportunity to expose my mache to the world or at least a larger portion of it. The show runs from March 28th to April 1st. Long days await me as Wednesday to Friday the hours are 11am to 10pm, Saturday 10am to 9pm and Sunday 10am to 6pm. My long time pal Teresa who lives in Toronto has already signed on as my assistant. She is a wealth of information when it comes to the show. Attends it faithfully each year. If you wish to see a tad more on the show just type in: oneofakindshow.com and that will take you to the site. |
