Am I strange? My first assignment. List 5 things you find strange about yourself. First thought was who actually decides what is strange and what is normal. Your personal behaviour is practiced all your life so wouldn't you consider it normal? Others might find it strange, hard to say. Is there a panel of judges that daily decide these things for us. It reminds me of the television commercial in which people phone in to find out if their situation is funny. Could work for strange. Hello, blah, blah, blah, blah; is this strange? Yes sir it is mildly strange, thanks for calling. Anyway enough rambling.
#1) To boldly go where no man has gone before and to throw myself at the mercy of fate without hesitation or concern. Definitely not a Quibell trait, quite unheard of in the rest of the family and I am sure these rash announcements have perplexed them all so many times in my life. Decisions are made suddenly and followed through quickly seldom thinking of the consequences of my actions. What will be, will be. Thanks Doris. Quitting jobs, ending relationships, major moves, you name it I've done it. So far so good and I do believe that period of my life has now ended. Fingers crossed.
#2) Snakes, I HATE SNAKES. They terrify me. Totally unfounded but they do. I remember as a young impressionable lad going to the movies and having to leave midway overcome with horror. It was a jungle movie, Amazon I believe and these huge snakes were killing people left, right and center. Twenty five cents for 2 weeks of nightmares, not too bad. Funny thing though, I have not encountered a snake in over 20 years. In Toronto it was of little concern but now the move to Thunder Bay has opened up many opportunities. Aware, always: prepared, is anyone ever?
#3) Money, money money. We long for it, we dream about it but I just feel I am to have it. My faithfull purchases of lottery tickets, dreaming of my new found riches and weekly dose of dissapointment is getting rather tiresome. Maybe I was wealthy in my past life and this is a carry over from that. Approaching 49 this is obviously a "later in life" event. Sing it Doris: whatever will be, will be....However thoughts of the Monkeys Paw cautions me on what I wish for.
#4) Get over it!! I have been blessed with the ability to recover from difficult situations rather quickly. I am sure some think this casual attitude is based on a cold uncaring heart. Not really sure why I am able to do this, it certainly has made life easier and less complicated. Feelings are personal and are not required to be displayed for the world to see. However if one is seeking or craving attention this is definitely the route to take.
#5) Our beloved comfort zone. We all have that safe, secure haven we call our comfort zone. A wonderfull place to be and usually a struggle to venture out of it. Above I have stated that I can boldly go where no man has gone before but there are situations that require a swift kick in the butt to get the ball rolling. Ironic isn't it? Getting my drivers license, selling food at the market or catering are prime examples of a major step out of the C zone to get things accomplished. As little Miss Heidi would say, "that is wierd". 댓글 (1개)
